Hello everybody, JavaOne After Dark, the official after parties for the JavaOne convention, are coming in early June. This is a gathering of approximately 12-15,000 tech people, mostly local, and I've been asked to get 4 massage therapists a night, for June 6th to the 8th.
You are totally welcome to promote your practice here, and it should be a tremendous opportunity to do so. I myself work almost entirely at tech companies these days, and there is a lot of work to be found out there, and they usually don't have the time to seek it out, so here you'll be, right there, pressing out the stress.
Sound good? Following are the details sent to me by the event producers. I currently have 1-2 slots left each night, so if you're interested, drop me a line with your experience, and we'll make arrangements from there.
You will receive most of the payment, minus a small fee for my efforts. You'll end up with $40 an hour, plus lots of new business on your plate. You'll be paid the same day you work, or the final day you work, if you work more than one shift. They'll need a simple invoice, I'll fill you in.
As for Java One it is June 6th 7th 8th, which is tues, wed, thurs. It's held at the Argent in San Francisco on 3rd between Market and Mission. The figure I am working with is $50 per hour. You'll get breaks of 15 minutes an hour, that are staggered so we always have three people working.
Also they must provide their own chair. Four shifts a night, 8pm to midnight. The need to be set up and in place each night between 7pm and 7:30pm. They are welcome to leave the chair there because we have 24 hour security if they do it more than night.
